Africa Infrastructure Intelligence · Evidence Explorer

Compare what is known.
See what is missing.

Eight African markets across cloud regions, provider-announced AI infrastructure, payments evidence, power and data-centre capacity. No missing value is converted into a zero, and no two-signal league table is presented as a market ranking.

Ranking withheld: comparable evidence is not yet sufficient.

Only big-three cloud-region presence is currently comparable across all eight markets. Cassava deployment status is shown as a company-specific signal, not as a measurement of each country’s total AI-compute access.

Capacity totals conflict

Published estimates use different definitions—IT load, installed capacity and full build-out. This explorer uses the ADCA baseline and does not combine incompatible totals. Open ADCA source.

Mobile-money figures remain regional

GSMA reports $2.1tn globally and about $1.4tn in Africa for 2025. These figures are displayed as context only and are not attributed to individual countries. Open GSMA report.

02 / Market coverage

Eight markets, one evidence standard

Each card summarises all five tracked dimensions for a market. Colour marks claim status, not ranking — an unavailable cell is a research gap, not a zero.

03 / Evidence quality

Every claim carries a status, a confidence and a source

The register below is the classification system behind every tag on this page. Nothing is scored as zero; missing evidence stays unavailable.

08 / Methodology & source transparency

How this evidence is built and verified

The rules that govern every cell above, the highest-value research gaps, and the primary sources behind every claim.

Method

  1. Cloud presence counts providers and regions separately. Edge sites and partner deployments are excluded.
  2. Cassava status records only Cassava’s own statement. It is not used as a proxy for total national compute.
  3. Missing evidence remains unavailable. It is never scored as zero.
  4. No overall rank appears until at least three genuinely comparable national dimensions exist.

Highest-value evidence gaps

  • One national data-centre capacity methodology across all eight markets.
  • Comparable monthly digital-payment activity from national regulators.
  • Comparable SAIDI/SAIFI or outage-hour grid-reliability data.
  • Operational GPU capacity and effective GPU-hour pricing by market.
  • Whether planned data-centre power is additive generation or existing grid supply.
